Dr. Sun Choi is a professor at the College of Pharmacy and Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Ewha Womans University, Seoul, Korea. After receiving her Ph.D. degree in Medicinal Chemistry from the State University of New York at Buffalo, USA, she joined Prof. Richard B. Silverman’s laboratory in Department of Chemistry and Drug Discovery Program at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, USA. From 2001 to 2005, she worked as a molecular modeler and computational chemist at the molecular design group in Tripos, Inc., St. Louis, MO, USA. Then, she joined Ewha Womans University as a faculty member, where she is currently working as a full professor. Her research focuses on the state-of-the-art technologies of computer-aided drug design, cheminformatics, computational medicinal chemistry, and biomolecular simulations. Based on these computational methods, she has been conducting multiple research projects targeting therapeutically important enzymes, GPCRs, and ion channels. Active interdisciplinary collaborations are on-going for drug discovery in various diseases such as cancer, virus, pain, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, etc. Since 2011, her lab has been designated as the National Leading Research Lab (NLRL) by the Korean government. She has disseminated her research in prestigious journals such as J. Am. Chem. Soc. (2011), Free Radic. Biol. Med. (2012), FASEB J. (2014), PLoS Comput. Biol. (2015), Biophys. J. (2016), and J. Med. Chem. (2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017).
