Biographies Speakers


Dalia Bajis is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Sydney. She graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Sydney and First Class Honours. Her pharmacy experience includes practice in community, hospital and academic settings. Dalia worked as a clinical pharmacist for a number of years and later managed a community pharmacy in Perth. Her passion lies in student mentorship and was involved in student training during her practice in community and hospital pharmacy. Dalia moved to Saudi Arabia in 2008 where she commenced work in the pharmacy academic field. For four years she worked as a clinical preceptor of pharmaceutical care and tutor in pharmacy management. During her time in academia, she led major changes in the pharmacy curriculum for the college, involved in the establishment of a pharmaceutical care teaching unit, staff recruitment and continuing education. Dalia’s areas of interest are competency-based pharmacy education, pharmacy human resource management and staff professional development. Her current research has particular focus on the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR). After successfully completing a systematic literature review which was later published in the Currents of Pharmacy Teaching and Learning, she conducted qualitative research in the lead up for more research and collaboration in the EMR. As the primary investigator of an expert academic team from the University of Sydney, Dalia pursed the final stage of her PhD research in Amman- Jordan where research-based student teaching was successfully undertaken. Dalia is currently in the final year of PhD completion and she aspires to join transformational leaders of tomorrow to foster a competent and capable pharmacy workforce in the EMR.
